Plot is what happens in a story. One way to look at it is a sequence of events. The beginning of a story is called the exposition. This is where the characters and setting are introduced. The next part is the rising action, where the conflict intensifies and the story gets more interesting. This leads to the climax, or the most exciting part. After that is the falling action, where the story wraps up, and finally the resolution, or ending.
