Please select one extracurricular activity you do in high school and explain why it is important to you.
I was a member of a club called Junior Civitan. It wasn't and may still not be a hugely popular or well known club. It focused on community service, and was for girls only. I'm not sure why it was for girls only. We would go to the nearby community home for the mentally challenged during holidays and spend time with them, throw a party, serve them food etc.
It was important because it helped me to be more sociable and try to connect with a different group of people who may be less fortunate than I was.
When I was in high school, by far the most important extracurricular to me was sports. I played as many sports as I could and I enjoyed it immensely.
For me, playing sports was important because it made me feel as if I belonged. I always got good grades and I had a reputation (in a small school just about everyone has some image) for being smart. That can be a bad thing in high school if you don't have any other aspects to your image. Sports provided me with another aspect to my image and a connection to people other than the "brains."
In addition, sports were and are simply fun. It is important to have some way to relax and take your mind off school. Physical exercise is a great way to do that and the sports that I played did that for me.
