SOAPSTone is an acronym, and its parts help the reader break down elements of a nonfiction piece in order to better understand its content and rhetoric. In this case, the process is being used to analyze Adichie's TED Talk "The Danger of a Single Story," a lecture in which she reflects on cultural stereotyping and how damaging these stereotypes can be.
The first "S" in Soapstone stands for "speaker." We know that Chimamanda Adichie is the speaker, but in this section, we also want to describe how the speaker presents herself and what we learn about her. For example, we know she is Nigerian and that she is a writer, primarily of fiction.
