An interesting point for consideration is how Queen Elizabeth's clothing not only had to be beautiful, but also needed to make a political statement. As a female ruler in a world controlled by men, Elizabeth needed to appear strong and powerful to her constituents and opponents. An interesting point for your thesis could be to analyze some of her well-known constumes in terms of being 'power suits.' She often chose bold colors, ornate patterns, an overflow of jewels, and those high starchy collars to make herself seem larger than life.
