`3(n-5) = -2n`

You can first eliminate the brackets by multiplying the inside by 3.

`3n - 3 xx 5 = -2n`

`3n - 15 = -2n`

Now you can add 2n to both sides.

`3n+2n-15 = -2n+2n`

`5n-15 = 0`

Then add 15 to both sides.

`5n-15+15 = 0+15`

`5n = 15`

Then you can divide both sides by 5.

`(5n)/5 = 15/5`

`n = 3`

Therefore, n is equal to 3.

3(n-5)=-2n

distribute 3

3n - 15 = -2n

move like terms to the same side

-15 = -2n - 3n

combine

-15 = -5n

divide by -5

3 = n

3(n-5)=-2n

distribute the 3 to n and -5

3n - 15 = -2n

move like terms to the same side, by subtracting 3n

-15 = -2n - 3n

combine:

-15 = -5n

divide by -5

3 = n
