In the play The glass Menagerie, Amanda's beaus all had money. What does this say about Amanda's character?

This tells us that Amanda must have originally been of quite high social standing, although since her marriage and her husband's subsequent desertion  of her, she has clearly come down in the world. It also shows that mercenary and practical considerations are very important to her, if the suitors she remembers most are the ones that could have provided well for her all her life. However, this mercenary streak is perhaps a characteristic that has become more important later in her life when she has especial need of money: when she was a girl, it seems she was more than happy to marry a man for his good looks and charm rather than for his prospects.
