Photosphere is to the sun, as surface is to (what)?

The photosphere is the portion of the sun we can see from Earth. Although the sun is a star made entirely of gas, the photosphere can be thought of as the "surface" of the sun. 

In answer to your question, I would say photosphere is to the sun as surface is to Earth (or other terrestrial planet).
