This is a true statement. Different people will respond differently to any manner of conflicts and situations. Our personalities and our character make-up direct our responses. One character might cry when faced with a particular conflict while another might turn their pain inward or attempt to fight back. These different types of responses are part of what makes literature so interesting. We can see what it might be like to be somebody else when a character reacts differently than we might. If every character reacted the same way every time, literature would become quite boring. Each character, just like each real-life person, should have a different reaction in the face of conflict.
