In To Kill a Mockingbird, if you had a chance to talk and ask each character in the novel a question, what would you want to know and what question would you ask?

Since author Harper Lee revealed little information about Atticus's wife, who died of a heart attack shortly after Scout's birth, I have always wondered about her. I would ask Atticus:

  • What was your wife's name?
  • Where did you meet her?
  • Was she a tomboy as a child?

I would ask Boo Radley what he did inside his house all day? Did he read? Did he keep himself busy, or did he just sleep all day so he could come out at night?

I would ask Scout to give me a good punch in the stomach just to see how strong she was.

I would visit Finch's Landing and ask Jimmy Hancock how he enjoyed life there without his wife, Alexandra.

I would ask Miss Maudie if she would bake one of her Lane cakes for me.

I would ask Jack Finch if he had a girlfriend back home and if he was planning to remain a bachelor all his life.
