Imagery occurs when the writer incorporates descriptions and language that appeals to the five senses: taste, touch, smell, sight, or sound. Let your words draw a picture in the mind of the reader. For your assignment, you should choose a topic easily associated with vivid sensory details. Choose something that you are familiar with and could easily describe, like your favorite fastfood place, eating your favorite pizza, or the feel and sounds of riding in the bus to school.
Be sure to include language that speaks to the senses: bright vivid colors, descriptive adjectives, bold action verbs. Try to be as specific and as clear as possible.
