Krypton is a clear, colorless, and tasteless non-metallic gas.  It has an atomic number of 36, meaning it has 36 protons in the nucleus.  It is found in group 18 of the periodic table known as the noble gases.  These gases are inert (unreactive) due to their stable electron configuration.

Krypton is found in small quantities in the air.  It is used in lighting and photography.
