It seems to me that in our education culture we are often given the curriculum, but what we should be teaching to are the standards.

I would take a look at your standards the district provides, or your state standards. See if there is a listening and/or viewing strand. Whatever skills are required might give you a little bit of direction.

Typical listening or viewing skills tend to include analysis or interpretation.

You might have your choose an act or scene that fits the music and some film segments and then have students create some kind of venn diagram that causes comparison...

This sounds like an easy and great lesson plan.  If you can make copies of the music, distribute it to the students in groups and have them decide where the music should go if they were making a movie of Romeo and Juliet. That would be a great lesson on tone, rhythm, mood, and atmosphere.

With the films, they could either compare and contrast the movies with each other or with the text of the play. They could recreate a scene or two and explain from the director's point of view, why they think the director did it that way.

Both lessons might be very enjoyable to do.
