Enotes has some great resources that might help you.  It has an entire section dedicated entirely to a discussion and summary of characters.  If you go to that link (I provided it below), it will help you a lot.  You might also want to try some brainstorming techniques.  You could try a web.  Write "Hamlet" on the middle of a paper, draw a line out, and and do a web of every significant eaction he performed.  Then from the action, draw lines out for the impacts that it had.  For example, Hamlet spoke very harshly towards Ophelia in his "get thee to a nunnery" rant in act 3, scene 1.  So, his action was a conversation with Ophelia in which he rejects her, tells her he never loved her, and that all women are fickle and foolish creatures who only do harm.  This action only served to make him more angry with his mother (who the rant was indirectly aimed at), alarm and hurt his mother and uncle, and completely alienate, insult, and hurt Ophelia.

If you try this with the 10 characters listed on your assignment, maybe it will break it down in a way that helps you to visualize it better.  And, check out the links below, because they are helpful.

The book "Who's Who in Shakespeare" by Francis Griffin Stokes lists all actions taken by characters in the plays.  It is extremely useful, and it sounds like exactly what you need here.
