There are relatively accurate recordings of the types of foods consumed in ancient Mesopotamia thanks to records kept on tablets and perhaps even warehouse records of foods that have been found in tablet form. These lists include foods such as beer, different types of meat, wheat, barley, different kinds of fruits, etc.
The Mesopotamians ate both leavened and unleavened bread as well as simple roasted barley and other grains. There also appears to have been consumption of beer and wine as containers that held both have been discovered and linked to that location and time period.
They also used all kinds of oils, whether from the fat of animals or from vegetables in cooking and they consumed meat from all different types of animals.
