There are many "tycoons" in various industries, particularly in today's economic climate that encourages entrepreneurship and business ownership. Two prominent tycoons of industry nowadays are Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, founders and owners of Amazon and Facebook, respectively, which are two of the largest tech companies in the world today.

They both share many similarities with the business tycoons of old like Carnegie and Rockefeller. First of all, both of them started their own companies from scratch—in many ways embodying the spirit of the American Dream, just like the oil and railroad industry leaders did at the turn of the century.

Additionally, they have amassed extreme wealth, but, like the magnates from the 1900s, have also turned to improving the world around them through charitable donations, sponsorship, and government advocacy.
