My rocket has a drag force of 15 N acting against it, its thrust force is 89 N. The mass of the rocket is 6 kg, will it achieve flight?  Explain ans.

The drag force on the rocket is 15 N. The thrust force created by the engines of the rocket is 89 N. The mass of the rocket is 6 kg.

For the rocket to take off, the upward force acting on the rocket should be higher than the sum of all the downward forces acting on it. The downward forces are equal to the sum of the drag force of 15 N and the downward acting force due to gravity of 6*9.8 = 58.8 N. This gives a total force is 73.8 On the other hand the upward force is equal to 89 N. As a result the rocket will achieve flight.
