My girlfriend is living in Thailand, while I am in Japan. I would like to know the cheapest way to make calls to Thailand without using Skype.I do not have an internet connection.

I agree with the previous post.  Calling cards are probably the best way for you to go.  I think that you might want to shop around with so many calling cards out there to ensure that you find the best card on both cost effective grounds and sound clarity/ connection.  There are many out there, so seeing which one is the best fit for you might be the strongest approach.  I don't think it's out of line to investigate the cost of an internet connection because Skype or Yahoo Messenger could be really effective in terms of maintaining contact between both of you.  Finally, I know it's old fashioned, but writing letters might be another approach.  It's completely delayed gratification, but there is nothing quite like receiving a letter from a loved one and being able to save it for posterity.  In a growing paperless world, the paper of writing letters may be a partially lost art but it is a timeless one.

I would recommend the calling card below if you would like to make cheap calls by phone.

I always use this card when I contact my family.
