I would love to go to the moon. I think the experience would be well worth the risk. The scientific benefits of visiting space are certainly well worth the expense and the effort. While our sights are often set on loftier goals now such as reaching Mars or leaving our solar system, I still think the moon is a worthy goal.
I have no desire to go to the moon. There seems no logical reason for going there except to say I've been there and what would I do when I got there? I have no scientific background so I wouldn't be qualified to do any experiments and wouldn't know what to look for or collect. To me it's just a large rock that orbits around the earth, influences the tides, gives us beautiful shapes as it moves in phases across the sky, and occasionally contributes to a fantastic solar eclipse.
Only after I have seen my fill of Earth would I consider a moon trip, if such a thing indeed becomes feasible. I'm sure it would be an astonishing experience, but the logistics of it would make it accessible only to the very wealthy. I also have trouble imagining that any trips to the Moon would involve actually walking on the surface, which would be the coolest part about it for me.
If the trip were perfectly safe, I would probably go. Despite the undeviated landscape that has been pointed out, the view of the stars from the moon must be really great. Also, looking down at the earth would be quite an experience. Being off the planet must be a very, very special feeling.
Well, the thing is that it is a mystery to me how these moon travels have yet not been as advanced and as perfected as they should have been by now. I always thought when I was little that, by the time I am the age that I am now, I would definitely be eligible to go to the moon and explore it. However, to be fair, the findings that have been made farther in our galaxy and in our solar system make going to the moon a waste of money. I reckon I would rather "save up" and visit Jupiter's moon Europa which, from what scientists say, has a lot of interesting things to show that cause a lot of questions.
I don't really see the point. I suppose it would be interesting, but it would certainly not be worth the effort and the risk to go up there. I do think it would be very fascinating to see Earth from orbit and to see the stars without the atmosphere to interfere, but I don't see the point in going to the moon.
I wouldn't want to visit the moon even if I were offered a free round-trip. For one thing, the trip is just too dangerous. For another, there isn't much to see when you get there. It is just a great big desert. You can see more interesting sights at the Grand Canyon and get much better accommodations. Another adverse factor about visiting the moon is that you have to wear all that heavy clothing, and it must be unpleasant trying to walk around with such low gravity. You can see everything you should want to see about the moon by watching the moving pictures taken by the astronauts who actually went there. Everything about a trip to the moon must be unpleasant, such as eating, sleeping, living in cramped quarters, wearing stifling clothing, breathing out of oxygen tanks--and what about going to the bathroom? The best thing about the moon is that you must get a great view from up there.
