Molten sodium chloride decomposes when electric current is passed through it. How many milliliters of chlorine .... ...gas will be produced at 500 degree celcius and 101.3 KPa from 1.00 g of sodium chloride?

We can use the gas laws to do this.

`PV = nRT`

Molar mass of Chlorine`(Cl_2)` = 70g/mol

`P = 101.3kpa = 1atm`

`n = 1/70 mol`

`R = 0.08206`

`T = 500C = 773K`

`V = (nRT)/P`

`V = 0.906L`

So the chlorine gas volume that produced will be 906ml

Assumption

Chlorine act as a ideal gas.
