I think there are plenty of dystopian novels you can use as an example of this.  Of course, there is also actual history.  An example of a dystopia would be 1984, where people have given up their rights to the point that they have none at all left, and the government that is supposed to take care of them is controlling them.

This is an interesting topic and you can answer it in many ways. With a topic like this, the problem is narrowing things down. One of the easiest things to do is to argue against it. In this way, you can argue that individual morality counts. In order to make this thesis work, you will need to give a few examples of where individuals made a difference.

This should not be hard to do. For example, you can use the life Jesus. One person started a movement, which changed the world. If you want to go with a modern person, you can talk about Gandhi. His non-violence inspired the world. If you want to talk about someone in America, how about Martin Luther King Jr.? He give strength to the civil rights movement and now we have a black President.

Your conclusion can be: at times individuals matter immensely! They make all the difference.

Thank you! I will most definitley use some of those examples. Would you know of possible topics when applying the question to 1984 and Lord of the flies? I might not have made that  I meant the question between those two books because this is my first time on here! :)
