If you were a manager for a major airline, what would you emphasize when designing promotional strategies for individual travelers?
I think one of the first things I would do would be to encourage individual travelers to join frequent flyer loyalty programs in order to receive free flights and other benefits from their flying. Some of the benefits they could expect to receive would be reduced fares by being a member as well as preferential, expedited service at the ticket counter.
Secondly, I would encourage travelers to go to our website and take advantage of the online ticket purchasing options when purchasing their tickets. I would also encourage them to buy their tickets well in advance of their anticipated travel date in order to obtain the lowest possible price.
Next, I would offer travel packages to businesses who have numerous employees using airline travel. These perks might be in the form of free shuttle service to and from the airport, free parking in designated spots, and free valet service inside the airport. Businesses will appreciate being able to buy in volume to get cheaper rates.
Above all else, I would make sure that everywhere the individual traveler goes on or near my planes, he or she is met with smiling, courteous, and helpful people that go out of their way to insure the travel experience is as fast and pleasant as possible.
