A good scientist uses the scientific method, a logical way of approaching a problem to find a solution. First, state the problem or question clearly. Next, find out what is known about this topic by doing research. Next, come up with a hypothesis. It is an educated guess about a possible answer to your problem or question. A hypothesis is testable. Scientists do this by designing a controlled experiment. Test one variable only in the experimental group. The other group, called the control group, does not get the variable. Record any data that the experiment produces. Analyze the data to determine if the hypothesis that was tested was correct or not. State the conclusions you have arrived at. Be ready to share your research with others.
