Five students held a party. They agreed to share expenses equally. Leroy spent 14 dollars on drinks. Alex spent $3 on paper plates. Kulwinder spent $7 on decorations. Max spent $9 on snacks. Bobbi $2 on envelopes & paper to send invitations out , & she also spent $5.80 in postage. Who owes money to whom?

The total cost of the party was:

`14.00+3.00+7.00+9.00+2.00+5.80=40.80`

Split 5 ways, each person should have paid:

`40.80/5=8.16`

Thus, each person should have paid $8.16

So:

Leroy is owed 14-8.16 = 5.84

Alex owes 8.16-3 = 5.16

Kulwinder owes 8.16-7=1.16

Max is owed 9-8.16=.84

Bobbi owes .36

One way to do this is:

Alex gives 5.16 to Leroy

Kulwinder gives .68 to Leroy and .48 to Max

Bobbi gives .36 to Max
