I believe that this question is asking you to come up with five of your own adjectives to describe the main character in "The Sniper" rather than using some of the great adjectives that the story already provides to describe the sniper.

Three adjectives that always come to my mind are "cold," "indifferent," and "hardened." The sniper is described to readers as someone who is used to looking at death. He is a sniper during war, and that is very different than a normal combat soldier. A typical combat soldier usually engages an enemy force that will return fire; however, a sniper engages an enemy that does not even know he/she is being targeted.

There is a definite sense of cold-blooded killing to snipers. We see this in action as the sniper does not even hesitate to shoot and kill the unarmed old woman. Everybody is a target to be shot an eliminated through the view of his scope. It's an emotionless task for him to do.
