Let the length of the field be L and the width of the field be W.  We know that the perimeter of the field is expressed by the following equation

2W + 2L = 240.

We also know that L = 7/5W.  We know that 7/5 is 1.4 so

L = 1.4W

So now we can substitute that into the previous equation.

2W + 2 (1.4W) = 240

2W + 2.8W = 240

4.8W = 240

W = 50

If W = 50 and L = 1.4W then

L = 1.4 (50) or L = 70

and the width =w

L= (7/5)w

The perimeter P = 240

2L + 2w= 240

Now substitute with L=7/5 w

2(7/5)w + 2w = 240

14/5 w + 2w = 240

24/5  w = 240

w = 240 *5/24 = 50 meter

Then L = 7/5 w= 7*50/5 = 70 meter
