Schizophrenia is just one aspect of one’s overall health. A person with schizophrenia needs to stay healthy in body and mind.

There should be definite means of community or familial help to reenter and be successful in society.  Many with schizophrenia will need a caretaker to help with daily activities until these are routine, or perhaps indefinitely.  A caretaker or someone daily checking and assisting the individual is extremely valuable.

It is also valuable to have the individual who is reentering society to have some type of work, whether it is volunteer or paid.  Studies have shown that mentally ill individuals with schizophrenia, released from inpatient treatment, are more successful in their daily living if they have some type of job or volunteer opportunity.
