Not sure what age you are referring to as under age but I feel that most teenagers are probably not ready for the consequences of sex in their relationships. The dangers of pregnancy or STD's are a big part of that, however I think you have to look at how it can affect teenagers emotionally as well.

First let me say that my husband informed each of our daughters as infants that they would only be allowed to date when there husbands said it was okay:)

That being said, I agree with the suggestion that there is so much more involved in sex than simply the intercourse itself. Never mind the emotinal results of too young people engaging in this very adult behavior, and never mind the health consequences in terms of STDs and unplanned pregnancy. My biggest concern is that many children who engage in sex at an early age end up raising children of their own with no real parenting skills.

I would hope that "kids" wouldn't have sex, so I guess any age that includes "kids" won't help me answer the question. Sex involves so much more than "the act." I'm sure you've been well-schooled in this, but it worth repeating.  The possible consequences of sex--diseases, pregnancy--are so serious that people need to be old enough and mature enough to consider the implications. I've watched too many young people permanently damage their futures by engaging in sexual activity too young.

It's hard to know how to answer without knowing what young age you're talking about.

Of course as a parent I hope my daughters wait until they're 25 (just kidding, I think).

In general, it's hard to say what age is the "right" age.  Different kids are more or less mature so some are probably ready when they're 14 and some aren't when they're 25.

As I say, specify an age and you'll get better answers.
