Jewellers Mark Store paid $47.29 for a watch.  Store expenses are 24% of regular selling price and the normal net profit is 20% of regular selling price.  During a Special Bargain Day Sale, the watch was sold at a discount of 36%.  What operating profit or loss was realized on the sale?

Round your answer properly to two decimal places.  A positive value indicates profit, a negative value indicates loss.

Let the selling price of the watch by Jewellers Mark Store be $x.

They paid $47.29 for buying it.

Add to it, the store expenses = 0.24*x

Add, net profit=0.20*x

Subtract, discount =0.36*x

-------------------------------------

Selling price of the watch= $47.29+0.08x

By condition,

`$47.29+0.08x=x`

`rArr 0.92x=$47.29`

`rArr x=$47.29/0.92=$51.40`

Operating profit = `$(51.40-47.29)=$4.11`
