What I think is that it is hard to understand from far away what India must be like.

On the one hand, we hear about how many engineers and doctors and such are produced in India every year.  But then we see information about how there is a Maoist insurgency that the government can't even keep under control in some states.  We hear that India is the world's biggest democracy, but at the same time there is a party (BJP) that is based to a degree on religious hatred.  And we hear that there are honor killings where people kill their relatives for marrying outside their caste.

It seems very contradictory...

I have never been to India. Most of my information comes from research. However I think it is a fascinating country. Many Americans resent it because of outsourcing, but the way I look at it India has found its niche and is finding ways to grow and become more profitable.
