The answer to this question can be found at the end of Chapter 20 and the beginning of Chapter 21.  The answer is that Calpurnia is the one who is coming down the aisle with a note for Atticus.

We see her coming down the aisle at the end of Chapter 20.  At the beginning of the next chapter we find out what is in her message.  She is carrying a note for Atticus from his sister.  The note says that Jem and Scout are missing.

Atticus gets worried, but Mr. Underwood points out that the kids are up in the colored balcony.
