Lyman and Henry drive up to Alaska in the eponymous red convertible. The brothers bought the car and had just enough money left over to pay for gas. They travel all around the Rocky Mountains, and during their trip they meet a girl by the side of the road called Susy, who has a Princess Leia hairstyle. Once they've picked up Susy, the brothers spontaneously decide that they're going to drive all the way up to the wonderfully-named Alaskan town of Chicken, which is on the border with Canada.

Lyman, Henry, and Susy enjoy the time they spend in Chicken. It's that time of the year where the sun never sets, the locals are friendly, and the brothers experience a funny moment when they realize that Susy's hair is almost seven feet long.
