An illustration of the letter 'A' in a speech bubbles

It is the morning after Simon's death, and Ralph admits that they helped in Simon's murder, while Piggy can only live with it if he says it was an accident. Everyone has joined Jack's group, except for Samneric and a few of the "littluns". Jack now rules dictatorially at Castle Rock, the mountain on the island. He ties up and beats Wilfred for no apparent reason and warns the rest of the group that Ralph and his tribe are the enemy. He seems to really believe that Simon was indeed the beast, but because it never really dies, they must still guard against it.
