Human beings and computers interact in several ways and there are both positive and negative effects of these interactions on culture. Human computer interaction (HCI), using internet has enhanced our knowledge of different culture and have brought us together. Mobile devices, such as laptops, tablets and mobile phones, have ensured that we are always in touch with people and the cultural interactions have increased, especially through social media platforms. Smarter devices at home, such as dish washers, laundry, etc. saves us a lot of time for interacting with people. People residing in any corner of the world can stay in touch with others using tools such as skype or facebook, etc.

On the flip side, the people stay connected with others using online platforms and not real physical connectivity. For example, many people have hundreds of friends online (on facebook, myspace, twitter, etc.), yet they hardly meet 10 of them in a given year. Thus, our interactions and cultural exchanges have been limited (mostly) through the internet and HCI. HCI will also cause unemployment due to non-requirement of unskilled or lesser skilled labor. This will negatively impact a portion of our population and demotivate them. HCI can also be used to promote violent games, pornography, terrorism, etc. (especially to young adults) and will bias them to certain degree.

Hope this helps.
