So I'm reading the great gatsby and I'm becoming enthralled with the idea that Nick is bisexual or gay.

In chapter 4 when Jordan reveals that all Gatsby wants from Nick is for him to set up a meeting with Daisy I get the feeling that Nick begins to settle for Jordan after that. Nick says "Something Worried me"(about what Jordan told him) and to me it seems like he realizes that he has no chance with Gatsby so he settles for Jordan. Is that even a valid thought?

I certainly can see how one could make the argument.  The relationship with Jordan does seem to be half- hearted.  This might not be due to sexual identity, but rather a desire to want to be a part of the social setting of the time.  I think that once Nick sees Gatsby wooing Daisy, he holds a desire to want to be part of the same setting.  This might help to explain why he enters into his situation with Jordan.  I do think that you need to examine how there might be subterranean feelings in the relationship between Gatsby and Nick.  If you are right in that there could be a subtext of homosexuality present, there should be some indication of it throughout the text.  After Gatsby becomes enthralled with Daisy, what is Nick's reaction?  How does he behave?  Does it seem like he is a friend or confidant to Nick, or something more?  Assessing this might help address your suppositions.

I thought you were going to reference the end of the chapter 2 where Nick is in the elevator with that "flamboyant" man and he makes a gesture on the lever and then Nick wakes up in his bed while the man is in his underwear. Now THAT makes me think he's bisexual.

Good Point akannan, maybe as a writer myself I like to develop stories behind the people, it seems like a very plausible answer to some of the loose ends in the book. Thank you.

I'm sorry I just finished this novel and have to conclude that there is nothing in this story that would make me suspect anyone is gay or bi sexual I think maybe your little fantasy's are comming alive with these characters!
