I'm looking for the title of an American short story about a young Armenian/American driving an American Indian around in a Packard car for a summer.

The story you're looking for is “Locomotive Thirty-Eight, the Ojibway” by William Saroyan. Saroyan is probably the best-known Armenian-American author.

The story appears in the short-story collection "My Name is Aram".
