Très bien! C’est difficile, n’est-ce pas? My advice is not to look up a ton of words in the French dictionary that you do not know and try to write them in a poem. Your poem will not make sense. You do not say what year French you are in, but if you are in 10th grade, you are probably in French II or French III, unless you are advanced. In any case, do not try to write above your level. It should be something that you and your classmates would understand. Your teacher is not looking for you to write something perfect in verse, so don't worry. Just don't make silly mistakes in spelling, verb tense and the use of accent marks that you should know at your level. Does your poem have to rhyme? If so, again, try to choose easy words that other kids in your class will understand.
How about writing something funny about writing poems? For example:
Je n’aime pas écrire, c’est vrai
Surtout en français
Un poème n’est pas facile
Donne-moi une épée !
Do you know what this means?
I don't like to write, it's true
Especially in French
A poem is not easy
Give me a sword!
Just a simple example - you can expand upon it from here.
it all depends on the type of person you are because poems need your upmost feeling and uniqueness inside of it. If you're more of a nature lover, perhaps things going on with our earth, what we're doing wrong on it. Or family matters, divorse, fights, marrage, love, siblings, etc. or pets, dogs, cats, fish, etc. Or self confidence, breakups, and such.
I did a poem assignment about anything I wanted too and I did it about how me, myself and I, how I really felt. A girl who's sad and frightened about her own life, shunned away by so many others. But by growing up further on in life, she becomes aware of how unique she is and becoming free of the chains the kept her down. I know, sounds cheesy. But letting go of past sadness and spreading her wings and becoming free.
Like I said, it all depends on what type of person you really are. You need to feel everything you write, that will be how you will get good grades ;)
