If there are specific approaches that your teacher has outlined that you must take in your writing, I would pay attention to these first. From here, you can proceed. From what I am seeing in the topic, I think that you can start with some basic prewriting strategies. Simply starting off with jotting down some basic thoughts about how you and your family looked will be a good starting point. Try to recall everything in your mind's eye such as color of clothes, fabric and texture, style, and so on. Then, do the same for how the others in the airport dressed. Following this, go ahead and describe in as much physical and sensory detail as possible the looks you received, the looks you gave, even the physical characteristics of the gate or concourse will all be effective. The main idea is to put the reader into the situation so that they can see through your words what your experience was. You are striving to place them into something that no one else was in and doing this through words is where the powers of your description lie. I think that being able to recreate this from an honest and thorough point of view will help you be able to proceed in writing this paragraph.
