How would you describe the friendship between Ricky and Jacob in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children?

Ricky and Jacob are kind of an odd couple, young men you wouldn't normally expect to be friends. Yet friends they are, drawn together by mutual need.

Ricky, who's not exactly the brightest tool in the shed, needs Jacob to help him with his schoolwork. Jacob's assistance earns him the nickname "Special Ed," as he's in a few classes for gifted students which are part of the school's special education curriculum. Ricky finds this highly amusing as he associates the term "Special Education" with students who have learning difficulties.

In return for his help with schoolwork, Jacob looks to the six foot five inch Ricky to protect him from bullies. For good measure, Jacob loves the fact that Ricky makes his parents feel uncomfortable, which he considers a real bonus to their friendship.
