How would you connect act 4, scene 3 to the real world, to society and everyday life?

There are several relatively direct connections between this scene and "the real world." The first is the simplest: imagine that a woman and her friend are talking about men, especially their men. That happens all the time.

Almost as direct a connection, imagine what goes through the mind of someone in an abusive relationship. He or she knows something is wrong, but might not be able to admit it consciously. Instead, little things slip through from their subconscious, like Desdemona's song.

A bit more distant, imagine Desdemona going to a therapist to ask these questions, and trying to figure out why her husband acts the way he does.
