8,046,000 = 8.046*10^6

In scientific notation, you are allowed to have only 1 place to the left of the decimal.

8,046,000 In your new number, you have 6 places to the right of the decimal.

8.046*10^6

We need to write 8,046,000 in scientific notation. 

In scientific notation, we remove all the unnecessary zeros and replace them with a `10^x`  where the x represents how many places we moved to the left or right. 

In this case, the answer becomes 

`8.046 xx 10^6` .
