How is water related to nutritional health?

Water is the essence of life as nearly two-thirds of the human body is composed of water: 85% of the brain is water, 75% of muscle tissue is composed of water, 83% of blood is water, and 22% of bones are water.Not only does water form the basis of blood, but digestive juices, urine and perspiration are certainly composed of mostly water.

Therefore, drinking water ensures nutritional health. For, water is not only essential of itself, but it also contributes to the effectiveness of other substances that the body uses. Certainly, water aids the working of those components of the body listed above, such as the brain. And, without it, one loses energy. One example of how water assists food substances is with fiber; if a person does not drink enough water, fiber cannot work properly to aid the excretory system.

Water also flushes toxins out of the system while it carries nutrients to body cells, and it provides a properly moist environment for throat, nose, and ears. Naturally, for pregnant women or nursing mothers, water is even more essential; these women should drink about 10 cups of water per day. Without doubt, then, water=life.

Water is very important for nutritional health because a lack of water intake can cause death. People need water to survive.

Each day, the average body has to replace 2.4 liters of water that is lost through absorption and other body functions. "Water cushions and lubricates joints; nourishes and protects the brain, spinal cord and other tissues; keeps the body's temperature normal; and helps remove waste through perspiration, bowel movements and urination."

Dehydration causes a reduction in the amount of blood in your body, which causes your heart to have to work harder in order to supply the body with enough oxygen and transport other materials through the blood. 

Lack of water can cause havoc on the body and may restrict certain nutrition absorption or keep food held in your body longer which can be highly problematic.
