This is a great question. There is a direct connection between technology and terrorism. This is an unfortunate correlation, but it is true. We need to realize that technology is neutral, that is to say, it can be used for good or evil. So, with more sophisticated technology you can do great things that will benefit humanity, but this technology in the hands of the wrong people can cause great harm. Let me give a few examples.
Missile technology can be used in space exploration, but it can also be used to create ballistic missiles to harm and threaten nations. Likewise, computers can be used to help people with everyday tasks, but think of the great harms that cyber-warfare can do to nations, companies and even personal lives.
I agree with readerofbooks.
One example is Google Earth.
Google Earth lets you fly anywhere on Earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings, from galaxies in outer space to the canyons of the ocean.
But terrorists can also use it to zoom into an area and will now be able to target buildings with greater and deadlier accuracy.
