I think that a future English teacher should learn a foreign language in preparation for teaching English. This will give the teacher a recent experience with what it feels like to try to learn a language and struggle to communicate ideas without the right words.

It depends largely on where you are looking to teach.  In some states, Bachelor of Arts in English Education and a state exam are all that are needed.  In others, a Masters' degree is required.

Almost all states have a test of some kind.

Check the site below, as it lists links to the certification page for every state education department.  You can find information for your specific situation.

In my experience now the world is going to be converted in english. In this situation being a teacher we should teach our students in a brilliant way. Most of the students are facing trouble in grammar and pronounciation. By supporting them in this sense we can make them good in english. And yes! the practical knowledge should be given which will motivate them to be good in future. Teachers have to act accordingly.

Explain to the student what he/she will have to accomplish regarding school and what they will be learning. If the student truly loves English and working with others, then maybe have the student "shadow" another English teacher. Sometimes, I think shadowing is the best as it can really expose the student for what he might be doing in the future.
