How many lymph nodes does the body have? What is the difference between tears and presperation?

The lymph system consists of one-way vessels that serve to collect and filter interstitial fluid (the fluid found between the cells in the body.) Where these vessels intersect is where lymph nodes are found, typically in the head, neck and abdomen. The exact number of nodes, meaning where lymph vessels intersect, is not known, but it's believed to be between 500 and 700.  Considering unencapsulated nodes, or lymph tissue that is found around mucosa, that number might rise to 100,000! The reason they're difficult to assess is the tissue is not apparent unless it's inflamed.  The inflammation is due to the tissue doing its job, trapping foreign objects that the body wishes to destroy.
