How much aluminium foil is produced by Mexico?
Although Mexico apparently has plans to increase its aluminum production to meet world demands, it is not currently one of the world leaders. Mexico trails the big three--China, Russia and the USA--by a wide margin, ranking only 38th internationally in aluminum production, according to statistics released in 2007. In 2006, Mexico produced 75,000 tons, compared with China's nearly 6 million tons. Russia followed with 4.1 million tons, and the United States manufactured nearly 3.5 million tons. Mexico trailed much smaller countries such as Cameroon (37th), Bosnia and Herzegovina (35th), Slovenia (33rd), Montenegro (32nd), Slovakia (31st), Ghana (27th), and Bahrain (9th).
The USA's Alcoa Aluminum is still the single largest producer in the world, however.
