The boys predicted that Auk 25 would go 15,000 feet and that is what happened. It fell neatly and landed near the end of the slack, as they had expected. The impact bent the casing and shattered the nose cone of the rocket. Sonny had made some adjustments to this rocket, lining the inside of the nozzle with a mixture of putty that would absorb some of the heat. This prevented the extreme erosion that they had encountered with their previous Auks. As usual, many people came to watch this launch, which they had scheduled on the same day as the senior prom. Sonny noticed that although the same amount of people as usual came to watch the launch, they were lined up in groups of "union people" and "company people" on the road. The strike was still going on.
