We Americans living today have not benefitted as directly from imperialism as others have in the past, but there are still a number of ways in which you can say we still benefit today.

For instance, we Americans enjoy having places like California and Hawaii as part of our country.  We go on vacations to these places.  We have benefitted from the wealth produced by California in the Gold Rush and in Silicon Valley in more recent times.  We Americans also have benefitted from the fact that our country is so powerful economically and militarily.  We would probably not have been so rich or powerful if it were not for the fact that we have a country that extends from coast to coast.

Imperialism has helped to increase the size and power of our country. We all benefit from that in some way every day.
