The computer has affected our lives in many ways. The first major set of changes have been in our forms of communication and entertainment. Various forms of communication technology have allowed for people separated by long distances to communicate increasingly easily, facilitating everything from globalization of business to massively multi-player online gaming. Entertainment has become more individualized, with people less likely to go to movies or plays and less likely to watch major network television and more likely to entertain themselves online or through individualized media or musical experience. Computers have also contributed to changes in all forms of technology, from space exploration to warfare (e.g. the increasing use of drones and smart weapons), from travel (e.g. use of GPS rather than paper maps) to production and distrubution of written works.
