Why is it important that people should be aware of the international drug trade?
I am writing a paper over the international drug trade and I'm having trouble with my introduction. I want to explain why people should be aware of the issue.
There are many reasons for this.
- Drugs are a health and social problem in every country. If it were more difficult to trade drugs internationally, the domestic drug problem in most countries would decline.
- The international drug trade leads to a great deal of violence. The violence may be more pronounced in other countries, like Mexico, but it can make its way to the US as well.
- The international drug trade brings in huge amounts of money that might potentially be diverted to things like terrorism.
Of these, the first is the issue that is most likely to affect the average American. If the international drug trade were shut down, drugs would be much harder to come by and fewer Americans would be harmed by them.
