This analogy is often stated when discussing photosynthesis. At the start of the photosynthesis, electrons in the chlorophyll absorb energy from the sunlight. Now, electron carriers carry the highly energized electrons to other location where it is needed. Similarly, hot or burning coal does have high energy and heat. Would you carry a hot and burning coal and bring it to other places where it is needed? Of course you wouldn’t. You will use some tongs or any tool to hold it and place it to other location. If the hot coals are the electrons, the carrier (tongs) is the NADP+.
